The On the Roads program is a free in-class road safety education program suited to Year 10 to 12 students. The program is designed to help keep students safe on the roads by influencing risk reduction, increasing resilience and encouraging responsible behaviour.
Our interactive presentations run for 45 - 60 minutes and align with the 'Personal, Social and Community Health' strand of the Health and Physical Education learning area of the WA Curriculum (PDF 39KB).
This interactive and practical presentation is delivered by our experienced RAC patrols and designed for groups of 15 – 30 students. Presenters require access to a vehicle provided by schools and a safe and suitable location within school grounds.
In this workshop, students will reflect on their emotions and self-esteem connecting mental health to peer-pressure and the role it plays in making poor choices behind the wheel.
RAC bstreetsmart is a free road safety event for year 10 to 12 students held at RAC Arena. This annual event educates students about the consequences of distracted driving, speeding and drink driving, by re-enacting a crash scene attended by real emergency services. The students also hear from guest speakers who have been directly impacted by road trauma.
RAC bstreetsmart is supported by Royal Perth Hospital, St John Ambulance, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, WA Police Force and the Theatrical Response Group.
RAC Project Road Smart® is a free road safety event for senior schools in Regional WA. Like RAC bstreetsmart, this event focuses on driver and passenger behaviour and highlights the far-reaching effects of road crashes. The program features a crash re-enactment, which has been filmed as a docudrama and showcases the response by real-life emergency services. Students will also hear from guest speakers who have been directly affected by road trauma.
These events are run by RAC with the support of the WA Police Force, Department of Fire and Emergency Services and St John Ambulance.
