We've come a long way in 120 years, and so has WA.

When a group of motoring enthusiasts formed the Automobile Club of Western Australia to support the interests of car owners in 1905, their first task was to create road maps and signage to make WA safer.

The following 119 years of the club's history makes for a fascinating snapshot into how much life, and travel, in WA has changed.

We're proud of the work we've done to improve road safety, but there is always more to do. Any life lost or serious injury caused on our roads is one too many.

We now sponsor two emergency rescue helicopters to help Western Australians when they need it most.

As a voice for more than 1.3 million members in WA, we're planning for the future by building Australia's first electric highway and challenging how we all think about transport by trialling the country's first driverless shuttle bus.

Times really have changed. Although one thing remains the same – RAC is still working for the better of WA.
